About Split PDF

Toolium's Split PDF Studio lets you extract exact page ranges or click individual page cards from an interactive visual thumbnail grid. Processed entirely within your browser via WebAssembly and pdf-lib, pages are separated losslessly without quality reduction or server uploads.

How to use Split PDF

  1. Upload a PDF.
  2. Type page ranges such as 1-3, 5, or click pages in the thumbnail grid.
  3. Check the selected pages.
  4. Extract and download the new PDF.

Worked examples

Input: A 20-page PDF, range 1-3, 7

Result: A 4-page PDF containing pages 1, 2, 3 and 7 in order.

Background

Splitting copies the chosen pages into a new document, leaving the original file untouched. Pages are not re-rendered, so there is no quality loss.

Page numbers refer to position in the file, not the number printed on the page. A document with a cover and roman-numeral front matter will have different printed and file numbers.

Common mistakes

  • Using printed page numbers instead of file page numbers.
  • Typing a range with a descending order such as 5-3.
  • Forgetting that the extracted file keeps the original page order unless you select otherwise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pick non-consecutive pages like pages 1, 3, and 7?
Yes! Use the Visual Page Grid mode and click whichever specific pages you need.
Are pages re-compressed or degraded?
No — page extraction copies the exact PDF vector streams and raster assets losslessly.
